Trident 2 - 2 Heanor Town

Trident entertained Heanor Town at Grove Farm and things did not start as planned. Due to various unforeseen circumstances 7 players only arrived within 20 minutes of kick off. During the warm up left back Phil Williamson declared himself unfit to start due to quad troubles and then 5 minutes in Trialist Aron Munroe limped out of the action with a knee injury.

With the wind swirling Trident struggled to pick up the pace of the game against their opponents some 4 leagues their senior, however it was Trident that had the first chance of the game 'Etchells' forcing a great save from the Heanor goalkeeper Joe Partlett. Trident after this settled and started playing football the 'Cloughie' way, getting in down and playing to their strengths, Scott Pickard making some surging runs down the channels.

It was Trident that opened the scoring after a neat passing move with Johnnie Hickling finishing the move. Trident though lost their concentration and composure after the restart and slack tracking and marking became their downfall for Heanors goals. They both came within 10 minutes of Trident opening the scoring.

Trident did not let the goals upset them and equalised through a fantastic header from Scott Pickard. A Phil Williamson corner from the right was met by Scott who thunder his header in off the bar.

Heanor made 11 subs at half time but the fitness work undertaken by Trident so far in pre-season stood them on good ground. The second half was a none event although both sides did create chances with Trident unlucky not to win a penalty with 10 minutes to go after a run by 'Etchells' who was eventually brought down but the referee waived the Trident claims away.

All in all a fantastic result in Tridents history but more importantly a good work out and preperation for the 2007/2008 season.

Man of the Match: Scott Pickard
